Avik was my first Boxer, first dog. After wanting a
Boxer for several years, I was finally able to buy him
- with my first salary as a high-school student. I did
not know much about this breed, so I was very lucky
to have known the right person (a family friend), who
helped me to get a hold of this wonderful puppy. There
were 3 males in his litter and I was choosing 2nd. It
was love at first sight.
After a few months, I joined a local Boxer Club, where
they introduced me more to this breed and where I met
first Boxer people. A lot of learning had to be done
in short period of time - 1st puppy in the family...!
Avik was growing very quickly and before I knew it,
he was already a big dog.
Shows did not interest me much, so the first one we
went to, was only at 17 months of age in Junior Class.
The next one was few months later when we achieved a
grand success for new-comers like us. It was an Annual
Klubsieger Show in Slovenia, with Mrs. Brigitte Müller
judging. She was the first one to have recognized Avik's
potential and gave him a Klubsieger title and BOB in
competition of 53 Boxers. It was a hit "out of
the blue" for us and it opened a new era in my
life. After that I got more and more involved in this
wonderful breed. Wanting to learn things, I started
to visit shows more regularly, passed SchH training
with Avik and was welcoming first bitches to matings
with him. All this was not very easy for me / us. A
lot of hard work, hours, days, months spent on learning
for both of us.
Years went by and number of Avik's cups was growing.
We finished 5 national Championships and an International
one.
Avik will always have a special place in my heart. He's
the one who taught me everything, the one to carry me
to my new life. Life after him was never the same and
I can't imagine my life without Boxers now - just because
of him. Things were not always easy, people not always
happy for us... But Avik was always there for me, never
letting me down.
Avik, you are special to me and everyone who knew you,
knows why. Such a tender heart, personality, courage
and pride, my sweetheart, my best friend.
Avik died at the age of 8 years and 5 months. It was
a beautiful sunny winter morning; we went to walk like
every day. He died of Cardiomyopathy, after few months
of treatment. We knew this time was coming but when
it came, it left big scars on us who loved him. We are
thankful and happy that he lived a healthy, full and
happy life and that he left with honour, without suffering
and with us beside him - to a new journey, over the
rainbow bridge.
We will never forget you. Thank you for everything.
We will meet again one day.
I would like to thank all of you who expressed
your condolences and thought about us when he died and
to all of you who helped me and Avik. |
